movie review: Toystory and the karate kid

two contrasting movies with different targeted demographic.
Firstly, I want to talk about Toy Story 3. This time Andy is all grown up and is ready to go to college. The toys are panicking and scare on becoming toys that are eventually thrown out as thrash, but they did, as Andy's mum have mistaken them as thrash when Andy wants to put them on the attic in a big black rubbish back. Will they survive? Just go to your nearest cinema to find out.
The most obvious thing that happen this time around the movie is the dark subject matter of not being wanted. The darker undertone is reverberated throughout the whole movie and the toys are in for doomsday.
One thing that keeps pixar's animation on top is the storyline and as usual they delivered. What they did with previous outings such as UP and many more they managed to give and tell a simple story with a solid and smooth transition from on scene to another without compromising the animation itself.
the ending was an emotional one. No spoilers here. just go watch for yourselves. This movie is highly recommended.

Meanwhile karate kid is a remake or an updated version of the 1984 film by Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. I literally grew up with the original, so I wasn't expecting much from the remake. All I can say is that it was just an average film because of the I am a loser but I was taught kung fu and then became a hero premise. It is just so predictable. I hate the fact that the director decided to drag the film with its philosophical teachings of ying and yang and so on. It just felt so winding and boring. The ending felt rushed too. The movie felt stale to my taste. This movie is just a fun popcorn movie. Nothing to shout about.
