the no benefit being fat fiasco

by author Tee Lin Say (as pictured above)

BEING fat is never ever a good thing in face reading.

I know we place loads of emphasis on a meaty and chubby face for wealth and prosperity and, yes, those attributes are an absolute must when we evaluate a face for an overall good life.

However, blobs of fat in other parts of the body are always bad news.

If we are in a situation where we have to play “Spot the neck” or “Guess Who’s Preggers”, then Houston, yes we have a problem. May day! May Day! The elephant is in the house.

Let’s just use a very simple analogy. In the animal kingdom, think of all the animals at the top of the food chain. The lion, the panther, the cheetah, the tiger, and the list goes on.
What do they all have in common? Apart from being a very menacing lot, they are all slim and lithe. This is very unlike a pig, cow or panda, which cannot at all compare in terms of lethal qualities. Even in the ocean, the much smaller shark that lacks in size can sometimes harm whales.

You see, when one is too whale like, one simply cannot function properly. In the physical sense, how can one defend oneself? How can one be the most supreme especially in the competitive corporate world.
I would personally never bet on a person who is bordering on obesity. I know lots of people say that successful entrepreneurs and tycoons are fat.
That’s not true. They are definitely not thin and are perhaps on the meatier and more rotund side. There is thickness in the waistline, which is good for wealth. You don’t see tycoons with waspish waistlines.
The waspish waistlines belong to the salary driven person. The accountant who earns a high salary and leads a comfortable life, but will never be phenomenally rich.

So yes, tycoons aren’t exactly thin, but they are definitely not fat. They have fuller and more substantial figures. Not surprising too because they frequently wine and dine in the best places, but there is a control to how much they indulge.

Now isn’t control, the reason for their success? Obese people do not control.
Being fat is simply a sign of a person who lacks discipline. He indulges way too much.

Do you see any gargantuan rulers? Even if there are, their rule does not last long. When one is carrying so much weight about, they are literally burdened with deadweight. And as we all know, deadweight is weight which does not produce benefits. It simply drags a person down.

Sure, muscles are heavy too, but they give a person more power and make a person more attractive.
A jelly belly simply makes a person look more aesthetically displeasing and brings him a step closer to his grave.

Imagine yourself having to lug around an extra 50kg, whether it is while you are trying to close a deal, give a presentation or do an intense workout.

Roly polies just aren’t as agile or nimble as their leaner competitors. Their brains also cannot move as fast when their hearts are working extra hard to pump oxygen through their clogged arteries.

In society, unfortunately, obese people have a lower social standing. As much as I hate to say this, it is especially true for women.

So gals, if you’re bordering or even edging towards elephantine proportions, I would urgently suggest going for a run. Your best investment for the moment is a treadmill.
Forget going to the salon or for a facial. He won’t notice how the blonde highlights frame your pudgy and dewy smooth face.

His first few thoughts shall be: 600 pound baby elephant on the radar. Run.

In other words, he sees a fat girl who is not presentable, and one who does not take care of herself.
There are three types of fat which are of the absolute worst in terms of one’s face fortune.

It is always bad news when one has no neck. You know, when a person is so fat, that he his head looks as if it is directly connected to his body.I know many people will say that they this rich person, or that CEO who has this feature and is very successfully.Yes, perhaps for a fleeting while, but it will not last. The tide of lard will eventually come to sabotage the initial success.

This is your absolute worst kind of fat category to be in. This is a cardiac arrest waiting to happen.
There is no need to read one’s face when one already has such a body. First of all, this person will most likely be in denial of his situation. They aren’t exactly honest either. They tend to lie, and in many instance it is to make themselves look better in the public eye.

Not to be discriminatory, but this level of fat people are also lazier than usual. They aren’t doers. They are great talkers though. This is to mask the denial of their situation, and the great insecurity they have about their looks. They talk about anything else, to deflect attention from all that excessive weight.
This is nothing but a ticking time bomb. Not cool.

Everyone knows the Michelin Man. Comical in nature surely with that awful pear shaped body.
Now, this body formation is more negative for men than for women. Men with such body shapes typically face problems during their middle years. The late forties to the fifties.
Now just using plain common sense, fat in the stomach and waist are the absolute worst kind of fat to have.
It is known as visceral fat, and too much of this fat gives a person a way higher chance of heart diseases, diabetes and even infertility.

Unfortunately, this is a feature seen quite often in skinny men who don’t workout.
The effects start to become obvious mid thirties onwards. Quite a turn off isn’t it. The guy is thin, but he’s got a paunch which protrudes pretty obviously.

The worst is when the guy has a small waistline, but has a tummy. In Mian Xiang, this kind of people are normally said to be poor, middle ages onwards. Unfortunate waistlines are never associated with wealth.
The waist is an important indicator in seeing how well a person does. A small waist is never a good look. As I said earlier, we like a waist with a certain amount of thickness, as it shows wealth.

Hence, keep that waistline trim. It’s a huge indicator of how financially well a person does.

SO FAR ONE OF THE MOST HILARIOUS ARTICLES I HAVE EVER READ. IT'S NOT HER HALF BAKED OPINIONS THAT IRKED ME, BUT HER WRITTEN WORDS. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME WHAT SHE WAS TRYING TO SAY.

Penis hurt

Just funny to have this on the newspaper considering the fact that most Malaysians or Asians are coy and shy about sex and sexual related conversation or articles such as the picture above. On a serious note, keep the  family jewels safe brothers.

The French Open 2011: in retrospect

Rafael Nadal prepares to receive Roger Federer...Image via Wikipedia
written by Sullivan Alex Tan

Said to be one of the hardest tennis tournament to win, the French Open is where warriors of the game show their determination to win, to persevere and to show determination. Throughout it's glorious history, the French Open has seen many players of past and present fighting to reach one of the pinnacles of tennis greatness, that is to win a Grand Slam event.
In order to win this even, a player has to go grueling and torrid condition( and especially  the body) as the famous red clay of  Roland Garros will indicate the fitness and also the determination of the player. A player which personifies such qualities is none other than Spain's Rafael Nadal, from Mallorca. With the determination such as Nadal, it is no wonder he is called by his peers and tennis greats alike as the 'The King Of Clay'. With his swooping forehand and tenacious energy, he has won five times and  is gunning for a record equaling sixth French Open title set by Bjorn Bork from Sweden in the Open era.
The French Open also provides us with a fairytale ending of sorts to player who had journey through this tournament in multiples of defeats, and a player that fits this mold so badly is none other than the maestro himself, Roger Federer. His winning-less streak in the final dates back from the year 2006-2008. Time after time the genius of the tennis world looks second best against the maestro of clay which comes in the form of Rafael Nadal. Tennis bookies and fans alike begin to wonder if Federer can break the jinx of another legend which is Pete Sampras, which won multiple Slams on other surfaces, excluding the French Open. With unwavering resolution, he finally break the duck on the 2009 season when he won the French Open to seal a career grand slam. It was a like royal wedding ending  of sorts to the millions of people around that watched the final. The win was a bitter sweet moment and also a silencer as well to all that doubt the ability of Roger to win on the red dirt.
When reaching sports excellence, there is heartaches too. A good example of this is becoming second fiddle to an opponent in a final at the French Open. Robin Soderling has come second in both occasion back in 2009 and 2010. En route in shocking  defending champion Rafael Nadal in the 2009 tournament in the fourth round, the Swede manage to nudge himself into the final and is pitted against Roger Federer. Sad to say he lost that final is straights sets 6-1, 7-6, 6-4. In 2010, meanwhile Robin Soderling reached a back to back final but lost to Rafael Nadal also in straights sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.
Being in a part of a prestigious tennis event would be a dream for many that played the sports. When one talks about having history and an air of prestigiousness, the French Open is not far from that. Known as the Internationaux de France back in 1891, alot have been change to the format of the game from the knockout format; to best of three sets from til 1902' 1903 and the introduction of the best of five sets afterwards . The winner of the men's singles will receive a replica silver gilt Coupe des Mousquetaires ( in honouring the 4 great musketeers of French Tennis: Jean Borotra, Jacques Brugnon, Henri Cochet and Rene Lacoste) and in 2010  the winner received a total prize money of $1.5 million upping the amount of last year winner's prize money to reflect the changes in the economy and for the benefit of the players.
During its time on earth the French Open has proven itself that it can adapt to changes and be part of one of the most exciting tennis tournaments in the world. It's brings forth a uniqueness in the game and excitement to it like no other tennis tournament does. When we define what is the French Open words such as "determination/guts/grittiness/ fitness and mental toughness" will come into our minds. That is what is so special about this tournament.Enhanced by Zemanta

10 ways to swat a fly

So what is the best way to swat a fly? Here are 10 suggestions.

1. Do it early in the day, says Max Barclay, an insect expert at the Natural History Museum. "Because they are cold-blooded, the reactions of insects depend on the temperature of the air. Early in the morning or in the evening they will be a bit dopey, but in the heat of the day they will be very quick." But expect failure. Barack Obama was probably quite lucky, unless he's been practising. "Nine times out of 10, a human will come off second best. Flies have a phenomenal barrage of senses, half of which we don't have."

2. Approach from behind, goes one theory, because flies take off backwards. Anecdotal evidence suggests some people find this a successful method. But the fact that flies have 360-degree vision and can jump in any direction makes it improbable

3. Aim ahead, rather than at, the fly say researchers in the US, who found that within milliseconds of sensing a threat, flies get their body ready to take off forward, backwards or sideways. "Given that they are going to be jumping away from the swat, it's best to aim slightly ahead of it," says Michael Dickinson, of the California Institute of Technology. Although how far ahead depends on the speed of the fly. He's been studying take-offs for five years, using video that provides 5,400 frames a second of a fly's precise motion when threatened with a swatting.

4. The old-fashioned slap, now known as The Barack. Stay still, keep focused, take aim and attack. Ideal for a fast hand and if the fly is stationary. And if the world's media is in attendance, YouTube fame beckons.

5. Implements with holes are more effective, says Dr Peter Barnard, director of science at the Royal Entomological Society. "It's the air pressure they detect and fly away from. It's not so much that they see something coming, but they feel the pressure wave in front of the object." This is due to their coating of microscopic hairs, highly sensitive to air movement. Practising what he preaches, Dr Barnard uses a plastic pistol that fires a holed circular device. A fly swat gun, if you will.

6. Use chopsticks, like the Karate Kid. Under guidance from his instructor Mr Miyagi, teenager Daniel LaRusso demonstrates his speed and hand-eye coordination, and learns an important life lesson at the same time. Mr Miyagi's advice - "Man who catch fly with chopstick accomplish anything" - features on T-shirts in homage to the 1984 film.

7. Put hands either side of the fly, facing each other, so it doesn't know where the threat comes from, then clap the air a few inches above it. Wash hands immediately to remove the contents of the fly's stomach (don't ask).

8. Get a gadget. At the hi-tech end of the market there's an electric-powered mesh, a dome complete with pheromone and an insecticide aerosol. For those on a budget, there are decorative window stickers or pens to coat windows with transparent insecticide, and fly-swats cost as little as £2. Animal rights organisation PETA, which advocates compassion for flies, says there are humane bug-catching devices available too.

9. Improvise with a rolled-up newspaper (bear in mind point five, above), or a spray window-cleaner.

10. The humane approach - to capture but not kill. "I like to grab them in my hands," says Mr Barclay, who's had plenty of practice. "When you want them for a collection you don't want them damaged. Hit them with the palm of your hand and close your fingers over it." And if you're not an entomologist, release the fly outside. It will make you feel better.

How ten classic toys were invented

1. Lincoln Logs
were invented by John Lloyd Wright, Frank Lloyd Wright’s son. The original instructions included a how to construct a replica of Abraham Lincoln’s cabin, but also how to construct Uncle Tom’s cabin.
2. Tinkertoys were invented after a stonemason saw kids being totally entertained by building things with pencils and spools of thread.
3. Hula Hoops have been around forever in various formats, but the “official” Wham-O toy was invented in 1958. The inventors promoted it by going around to various playgrounds and parks giving children samples and showing them how to use it. Something tells me two random men showing up in a park handing out toys wouldn’t go over that well today…

4. Sea Monkeys are real (and that’s what they look like). I always thought they were a scam because I never once saw living Sea Monkeys swimming around in their little plastic home. Not once. They were “invented” in 1957 by Harold von Braunhut, the guy who invented X-Ray specs. They’re really brine shrimp and are ideal for packaging as a toy because they enter a natural state of suspended animation in certain (shippable) environments. When kids release the “monkeys” into the prepared water, they “hatch.” The reason they’re so active (supposedly… I’m still bitter that mine never worked) is because one of the packets you dump into the aquarium contains a type of salt that increases the sexual activity of the little critters. Yep. Think about that the next time your kid is fascinated by Sea Monkeys.

5. Play-Doh was first sold as a wallpaper cleaner. How’s that for weird? You rolled it on the walls to remove coal dust.

6. Troll dolls were created in 1949 by a Danish fisherman who needed a cheap Christmas gift for his daughter because he couldn’t afford to buy anything. He used sheep’s wool for the hair. Thomas Dam’s dolls caught on; thus the original dolls were called Dam Dolls. I got in on the whole troll craze in the early ‘90s; I think they still reside somewhere in my parents’ basement. I remember some of their names… I believe Dud the Surfer was my favorite. That’s not a typo: Dud. Not Dude. He had his own theme song. I’m not entirely sure why I’m sharing this.

7. Slinky was invented by Naval engineer Richard James. He knocked a spring off of a shelf when he was working to develop springs that could keep ship instruments stable in choppy waters. The spring did what a Slinky does… it stepped down to a stack of books, then to the table, and then to the floor, where it righted itself into a cylinder. James knew it would be a great toy, and tests by neighborhood kids proved him right.
8. LEGO blocks were invented by Ole Kirk Christiansen, a master carpenter who lived in Denmark. The word comes from the Danish words LEg and GOdt, which together means “play well.” They later discovered that in Latin, Lego means “I put together.”

9. Raggedy Ann and Andy were created by writer and illustrator Johnny Gruelle. Ann was created as a doll in 1915 for Gruelle’s daughter – he reportedly named the doll after two books poems from a James Whitcomb Riley book – “The Raggedy Man” and “Little Orphan Annie.” Ann inspired Gruelle to write stories about her adventures, and in 1918, Raggedy Ann Stories was released. Her brother, Andy, showed up in 1920. I had a Raggedy Ann doll and she scared the crap out of me. Most dolls did. I had a porcelain doll once and I accidentally broke her arm, and I was convinced that she was going to kill me in the middle of the night for breaking her, so I kept her shut in the closet. To this day I have to have the closet doors closed when I sleep. Have I ever mentioned that my first horror movie was Dolls and I was in third grade? Let the psychoanalysis begin!

10. Sock Monkeys. The sock monkeys that we have come to know and love today – the ones made with Red-Heel socks – are thought to have come about in 1932. The distinctive red heel was given to the socks so customers would know they were getting authentic Rockford socks. When the Nelson Knitting Company discovered that their socks were being used across the country in this arts-and-crafts movement, they won the design patent for the sock monkey pattern and started including it in the packaging of their socks.

6 Used-Car Traps and How to Avoid Them

By Jada A. Graves

1. Bargain-Basement Pricing

You can get a great price on used cars, but beware of deals that seem too good to be true. There could be something seriously wrong with a car that a seller is practically giving away. Check the suggested value on Kelley Blue Book's or NADA's web sites before you begin negotiating and don't be afraid to ask the seller why the car is priced so low. Remember, just because the car is cheap doesn't mean it is a great deal.

2. No Further Inspection Necessary

A certified pre-owned vehicle is more likely to have been inspected than a car that's privately sold. But in both cases, you can protect yourself by having an independent mechanic look over the car. Paying for your own inspection can confirm problems you already knew existed, or bring to light additional issues that give you room to negotiate a better price. Ask the seller if your regular mechanic can give the car a once-over before you agree to purchase. If you're buying a CPO vehicle, ask the dealer if you can speak with the mechanic who performed the inspection.

If in either case you are told this can't be arranged, you should consider walking away from the deal.

3. Missing Paperwork

A private seller that tells you they don't have the title or maintenance records for the vehicle could be trying to keep something from you. Luckily, you don't have to rely on them to be transparent, as long as you have a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Web sites like NADA.com or CARFAX can provide a vehicle history report to compare with the information the seller has given you on the life of the car. These reports will also give you an ownership history if you're concerned with how many times the car has changed hands.

4. Not Available for Test Drives

If you can, it's always best to take the car for a spin before agreeing to purchase. Test driving a used car will not only give you a handle on how it drives, but it could alert you to any problems the seller downplayed or didn't mention. If you have time, let a friend drive the car as well -- they might notice something that you don't.

5. Sight-Unseen Transactions

The internet has made it easier to find great deals on a wide selection of used cars. But not all of them are in a location convenient to handle the transaction face-to-face, and there are several things to keep in mind when purchasing a car located elsewhere. First up, never transfer any money to a seller until you have the car and its title in hand. Second, be wary of sales that require more than basic transaction information to complete the sale. Third, only use online escrow accounts that you're familiar with to transfer the money and, if possible, pay in person with cash or a check instead. Fourth, try to negotiate a trial period with the car so that you can return it if you're not satisfied -- and get an agreement in writing.

6. Warranty Fine Print

If warranty coverage is offered with your used car, make sure that you understand the terms. Find out when the coverage began. While some manufacturers' plans begin from the time you purchase the vehicle, others modify the time by the age of your vehicle. If you're buying a car from a private seller, double-check whether their original warranty is transferrable so you can retain coverage. Determine whether your warranty includes maintenance, wear and tear, and roadside assistance. Lastly, ask what dealers (if not all) will honor your warranty coverage.

Good Boy! The World’s Ten Smartest Dogs

By: PetMD

10 Australian Cattle Dog

Yes, that Australian Cattle Dog from Down Under. A working dog that is traditionally occupied with controlling and herding cattle, its qualities are exceptional intelligence, alertness, resourcefulness, and a fiercely protective loyalty over its property and people. They are agile, strong, active dogs, both physically and mentally, which revel in new experiences. The flip side is that they bore easily and will unintentionally find trouble while looking for activities to occupy themselves with. The Cattle Dog is very organized; many are known for putting their own toys away after playing.

#9 Rottweiler

Another herding dog, the Rottweiler began in Germany as a true work companion. They are still primarily used for work as guard dogs and as police dogs. They are well known for their stoicism, keen perception, courage, and unflagging loyalty. They make an excellent addition to the family.

#8 Papillon

This deceptively cute, butterfly-eared dog is smarter, tougher, and stronger than it appears (it’s like the bionic dog). Often described as big dogs in little bodies, they have the athletic stamina to keep up on long walks, and the bravura of a canine ten times its size. The Papillon is a true companion and watchdog. Although they can be ferociously protective over what belongs to them, their keen intelligence makes it possible to take them anywhere. Let’s not forget they can be litter trained, a big plus.

#7 Labrador Retriever
The Lab, as it is affectionately called, is the most popular breed chosen by families. Another member of the working class of dogs, the Lab is best known for its intelligence, affection, patience, and gentility, making them perfect companions for households with kids. They are easily trained, and, in fact, are one of the top dogs chosen for search and rescue, assisting the disabled, and police work. They are also known to self-train, observing behaviors in humans and repeating them—a great asset in emergency situations.

#6 Shetland Sheepdog

Another herding dog, the Shetland takes this ability into the home, showing the same commitment and protectiveness over its human “herd” as the farm raised version does. Highly intelligent, the Sheltie handles life with great efficiency and diligence, learning new commands with little repetition, and making sure that all of the family is safe, sound, and in place. They show great devotion to their families, and are happy to live just about anywhere.

#5 Doberman Pinscher
Due to an inborn fearlessness and deep stamina, the Doberman is one of the most popular of guard dogs. Smart and assertive, they can easily be trained for dominance or docility. Because of their past as war and police dogs, they may appear fearsome, but they are actually quite gentle. Their loyalty and acuity make Doberman’s great additions to the family.

#4 Golden Retriever

A very affectionate and popular breed, the Golden Retriever is highly regarded for its intelligence. They can learn well over 200 commands, making them indispensable companions, both in the home and in the workplace. Loyal, loving, and patient, with a willingness to please and a love of learning, this is a fabulous companion pet to bring into your family.

#3 German Shepherd

The German Shepherd was originally bred specifically for intelligence. Smart, courageous, and protective, the Shepherd is one of the most dependable of companions. They learn tasks after only a few repetitions, and obey first commands nearly always the first time it is given. They are eager to learn new tasks, as this gives them direction and purpose—very important for a Shepherd. Besides being used for herding animals, they are often used as guard dogs, police dogs, search-and-rescue dogs, and have even been trained by the military for parachute jumps.

#2 Poodle

Easily trainable, steadfast, and sharp-minded, Poodles flourish in human company. Even with the frou-frou hairdos, Poodles are sometimes made to endure and can be quite effective as guard dogs, especially the standard sized Poodles. In fact, the “poodle clip,” was created specifically for the working Poodle, so that it could swim more effectively, while still having fur to protect its organs as it went about the business of hunting and retrieving. The Poodle excels at training and obedience, and also loves creative play time. This is what made them so popular as circus performers. But, this can be a drawback as well. If left alone to boredom, Poodles can be creative about finding ways to amuse themselves, sometimes finding trouble along the way.

#1 Border Collie

The Border Collie comes in at number one. Because of their extraordinary intelligence and high energy, it is essential to give Border Collies an occupation or purpose, or you may well find your home wrecked upon your return from a long day at work. They have an intense connection with humans, making them ideal work and home companions. However, keep this in mind: Border Collies invariably will not do well unless they are with people who are as high energy as they are; they do best with humans who can participate in dog sports with them. Also, because of their background as herding dogs, they may be frustrated by small children, as their inability to herd the children as they deem fit is confounded. For the right human, the Border Collie is well behaved, exceptionally good at learning, and a true-blue companion.
