London Olympics 2012: The Opening

Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins opens the Olympic Opening Ceremony by ringing a giant bell

Giant smoke stacks appeared out of the centre of the stadium, as the Green and Pleasant Land was replaced with a stark industrial landscape
Giant smoke stack protruding out from the middle of the performance area inside the stadium

Forged in steel mills in the centre of the stadium, the Olympic Rings rise above the crowd
The Olympic rings are illuminated with pyrotechnics as they are raised above the stadium during the Opening Ceremony
Five mock steel rings are slowly hoisted up to form the Olympic logo.

Looking bored: The London Symphony Orchestra played Chariots of Fire as Mr Bean - actor Rowan Atkinson - took to a keyboard
Starring role: The performance cut to a video of Mr Bean running down the beach made famous in the opening scene of the 1981 film Chariots of Fire
Mr Bean and his antics. Seen here
The Queen was happy to accept her mission as the latest 'Bond girl' especially for the Opening Ceremony

Blooming marvellous: This series of photographs shows each of the 204 copper and steel petals of the Olympic cauldron being lit before being lifted up to form one giant flame

Highlights:
  • Mr Bean fumbling on the keyboard. He drifted into a dream and was seen running with a bunch of guys, spoofing the running scene from the movie Chariots of Fire.
  • Harry Potter J.K Rowling, reading from Peter Pan. A lot Marry Poppins were seen flying around the middle of the stadium.
  • Her Majesty the Queen opted for a short cameo as herself and proceed to hop onto the helicopter with Daniel Craig a.k.a James Bond and sets off to jump off the helicopter and into the stadium.
  • The Olympic cauldron a combination of 204 petals. Lit by seven future  young hopeful in British sports.
  • Five mock up rings were seen on the middle of stadium with steel  mill workers fakingly pounding on it. Not long after that all the rings were brought up slowly to form the Olympic logo.
  • Awesome tribute to British music of the last forty years. Psychedelic looking dancers in jumpsuits, and stuff.
Verdict:
I love how they go all out and crazy during the ceremony. The lighting of the cauldron was impressive also.

Movie Review: The Dark Knight Rises

The third and last installment of the Batman franchise sees Batman living in exile after being branded master criminal in causing the death of Harvey Dent. Bruce becomes a recluse because of that. Eventually his empire, Wayne Enterprise is slowly in shambles and in internal turmoil is magnify by the arrival of Bane, a muscle bound evil entity  that is going to destroy the very city that Batman tries to save.
There is so much at stake in the movie. The prevalence of of victory and hope can only happen from adversity and calamity. The movies delves into those issues very intimately
Christopher Nolan's story are usually a slow burner, and Dark Knight Rises is not much different. Clocking at 164 minutes, the movie can get pretty tiresome. Watching a Christopher Nolan movie is like being on a tight rope. You need to stay sharp and focus and when you reach at the end its totally satisfying knowing that you took the plunge and reach the end. The main plot and the subplots are so intense that it keeps you thinking hard about it even after you have walked out of the cinema hall.
Overall it a satisfying movie. Christopher Nolan proves that he is a good storyteller. In this movie he is damn good at it. A brutal, honest ending to a trilogy under the helm of one of the most gifted director in the movie industry in my opinion.

horrible attitude

I got onto a bus a few days ago. It was a bus full of passengers

"Can you move back a little bit, pity those who are still trying to get into onto the bus?", I asked.

And what came next, really pissed me off inside.

"Why should I do that? Why should I pity?

At the end the idiot woman had to moved to the back of the bus. What a douche.

doughnuts story

Once upon a time, there was a boy who hadn't had a donut in his life. So out of curiosity and love for trying new types of food, he ventured far north to CorporateMall Land. When he reach there after a treacherous journey of wailing waves(means traffics) at the sea(means road). He approaches the one of the place called J.CO tavern. I approached with caution, because I do not know what to expect.

A peculiar looking human stood by the  counter and ask me a question, " What is your business doing here sir?".

"I am looking for a ring with a certain topping on it", I told him in a cautionary manner.

" You mean  doughnut sir?".

"Yes, some doughnuts please", I smirked.

"Okay sir, what flavour doughtnuts would you want to buy sir?"he asked.

" Would like the blackforest flavored one. Can I have a healthier alternative, a baked one maybe?", I demanded.

"No sir!! All of our donuts are fried sir??!!?", quipped the peculiar looking human standing behind the counter.

"Now that's a revelation. I still want them though", I gave him a dead pan look.

"Alright sir!!".

Supermoon Walk

Movie review: Spiderman Reboot & Vampire hunter

The Amazing Spiderman
A lot of people have been bashing this movie before it even came out. Most of it stem from the fact that most fans of the previous spiderman movie felt that Tobey Mcguire is the quintessential super web hero.
It got the same backlash when Daniel Craig land the role of 007, in Casino Royale, only to get glowing reviews and having it to be the highest grossing James Bond movie ever. In this case, I felt that Andrew Garfield did a better job in the acting department. He oozes angst and dopey coolness with an assured confidence that Tobey didn't not. It is Garfield's chemistry and Emma's that really stood out in this reboot that also gets the thumbs up from me. The fight sequences in this one was good but not as interesting as the second and third installment and nothing new in the story. At the end of the day it is a satisfying superhero movie, nothing spectacular about it.

Abraham Lincoln: The vampire hunter

I love how to mix and mash the story of President Abe Lincoln before he became the President of the United States and that of the story of vampires and how also he fought for slaves during that period. What was clearly lacking in this movie was that the stories in it seems out of focus and seem to is easily compare to a bunny on drugs, hopping around frantically. There was no emotional depth in the characters. They will just have a few chit chats with you and they will be out of there in a minute.
The saving grace of this movie was the out of the box storyline involving history (not accurate one at all) and vampires. What cause this movie to be not great is it's hectic pacing, the lack of depth and story in its characters. So overall, its not a good nor a bad movie.

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations.

On the other side of the call ( A Chinese man speaks in Mandarin ) : "go directly ahead and address the name of the person that he wanted to called".

I answered: " You have the wrong number".

The Chinese uncle: " Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh? ( This goes on for a good  seconds or so)

Frustrating because he didn't even have the courtesy to apologize to me. * frowns*
