Muar food excursion

A friend come down for a wedding last Saturday. He came off from work early on Friday so that he doesn't need to be caught on the famous jams around the city of Kuala Lumpur.

On Saturday morning, we decided to have a road trip to Muar, to sample the good there.
this was taken an around 7 am in the morning. Crazy huh just for some food far far away.

the was the first place we visited. It a shop solely selling chicken rice. Apparently my friend who brought me there is from Muar as well.

Some newspaper clipping of the chicken rice.

The main event. This is quarter of a chicken.

Accompanied by three huge rice balls.

Total amount: Quarter plate of chicken rice balls, plus 3 rice balls and a drink each RM12.60

Next stop, skewered meat or satay.

Total amount: Five sticks of beef and five sticks of chicken, a plate of ketupat and one drink each RM10.70

Next to the bay for some relaxing time.

Before we head off back to Malacca, my friend introduce me to some drinks
Well if you want a cheaper bird's nest drink that this stall will be the place.

I got the RM0.80  one.

Next drink is something you wouldn't see else where in Malaysia.
Hidden at the fruit stall...

is some good old pear juice.

it cost me RM1.00 for a cup.

There is so much more food to explore, but we hadn't had enough time. Overall I would go back to the chicken rice because of its price value which far exceeds the normal expensive prices that you will get elsewhere. The pear juice was something unique and I love it because of its tard taste. The satay was just mediocre tasting.
The four hour plus trip was really worth it in my opinion.

A shitload of angry birds

My friends and I was heading to town to grab some food in town. My friend who is the driver quickly took notice of a car, when peculiar markings on it and decided to parked next to a vacant spot next to the car.

At first we thought it was part of some car stickers.

Upon further inspection....

The car got a shitload of bird excrement.

body foot oil massage

Thought that I would like to share this picture from my travel blogger friend Mark Wiens.
Photo: The cartoon drawings on this sign somehow aren't encouraging me to get a massage!

Anybody care for an 'upside-down splits?"
this picture looks unasuming and innocent at first glance.

Until

Looking at the compromising/painful positions they offer, I think I will skip it.

horrible attitude

I got onto a bus a few days ago. It was a bus full of passengers

"Can you move back a little bit, pity those who are still trying to get into onto the bus?", I asked.

And what came next, really pissed me off inside.

"Why should I do that? Why should I pity?

At the end the idiot woman had to moved to the back of the bus. What a douche.

Park the car at the curb

This lady driver stop by and decided to leave her car on the curb, which obviously she shouldn't be doing because there is a yellow line there. I get it if she wants to get something in a hurry and there  is another driver in there to move the car in case there is someone coming with the summons, but she didn't because after waiting for the bus for a good 40 minutes or so, the car is still there.

Bus woes

I am not impressed at the current transport situation in Malacca now. Even though the government decided to take over the establishment with new air conditioned buses, but the cons tops the pros.
Pros:
  1. It's super clean
  2. It's air conditioned

Cons:
  1. The buses are not punctual. At some cases, the waiting can vary from 10 minutes, or 30 minutes, or 1 and half hours. The longest I've waited was almost 2 hours and that was when two buses passes me at the bus stop even though I was putting myself out there for them to see for them to come to a halt for me to board on them.
  2. The bus drivers here are highly underpaid
  3. With reason number two, I think that is why Malaccan bus drivers are the worst kind of drivers so far I have witnessed.
  • Related article to support why most Malaccan bus drivers are rude and irresponsible for their passagers: We are not dumb, You are!
Riding the Malacca public is not for the faint hearted. I know I have wasted lots of precious time till I am really numb about it.

the weekend secret mission

30th July 2011

A friend decided to invite me to a secret mission at town.
There was a cooking demonstration of some sort. Upon further inspection it was a mooncake making competition. (No this was not part of the secret mission)

prep and ingredients are important

Busy as a bee

Don't you think that the eyes are quite creepy?

this is what you get on a weekend ( this was not the secret mission either)

So ladies and gentlemen, this was the secret mission for that day....a cup of starbuck coffee, courtesy of Mr Thom( for the coupon) and Li Khai for the company and Kelvin as the ever important driver.

crying babies

MALAYSIA Airlines is to ban babies travelling in first class on the airline's new Airbus A380 and Boeing 747-400 fleet.
The airline said they have introduced the baby ban after receiving a number of complaints about crying infants from first class passengers, the Australia Business Traveller reports.

The airline has decided not to install bassinets in the first class cabin of its Boeing 747-400 fleet.
Those wishing to travel with babies will have to book bassinets in business or economy sections instead.

Malaysia Airlines CEO Tengku Azmil told the Australia Business Traveller first-class passengers complained about spending a lot of money and not being able to sleep “due to crying infants".

My opinion
I've been to a two  hour flight and there were time when you just have to deal with it. What I don't like about this new ban is how bias and discriminating towards the business and economy class. Why not designate a place just for parents and their kids instead of the business and economy class suffering when they instead have to deal with crying babies.

It just doesn't make sense to me at all.
