Random food review: Majeeda Briani

A friend of mine decided to have lunch at a place in Ujong Pasir, Malacca. So he drove me to a very shady place, which is located somewhere near a few blocks of apartment buildings. There is a canopy wedge between a few threes. So that is a few things you need to look out for when trying to look for the place.
You see the canopy there and the trees surrounding it??That is what you need to lookout for. There is also a school located behind.

Apparently its a Sunday afternoon, so my friend and I had the privileged of having our food coming to us pretty fast.

We took a seat underneath a shady tree.

See, no one. So we got good and fast service.

I had a plate of briayani rice with side dishes of mutton+ its gravy, dhal and pickled cucumber.

Yummy????!!????

After not having briyanni rice for a long time, it was a welcomed sight for me. As I got my plate, I noticed a few things mainly the rice was not as pale as the one I had a long time ago. The mutton meat was soft as I poked my fork through it and the side condiments were quite flavorful when I put it in my
mouth.
I had problem with the pickled cucumber, as it bath in a sambal and I am not use to that. I love the one where they combine slices of pineapple and also cucumber and left to soak in vinegar. I like that.

Price for two: RM18.00++ which includes a cup of iced lime juice drink and neslo. So price wise, its a reasonably price plate of nasi briyanni.

Overall it was a decent meal, the rice could have been more season with the spices associated with briyanni rice. So would I recommend it to you. I do.

The Switzerland vs Malaysia yogurt review

 Nestle Brand

Emmi yogurt Aloe Vera flavor

Yogurt flavor
A picture of how the Emmi yogurt looks like

I went shopping in the afternoon with two of my friends at Tesco a few Sundays ago. We were browsing through the milk, cheese and yogurt section of the aisle. I got myself a a nestle peach flavored yogurt and my two of my friends got Emmi's brand of yogurt from Switzerland.

Apple to apple comparison
Price
Nestle
RM1.40
vs
Emmi
RM2.80

Verdict: Nestle wins this round

Taste
Switzerland more runny then nestle, a notch down in the flavor compare to nestle. those who prefer a smoother and refine texture would love the brand.

Nestle Peach flavored yogurt.
A more stronger and distinctive smell  and  taste of yogurt. Bigger chunks of fruits were seen in the cup. It has a thicker texture compared to the Emmi Brand.

verdict: Emmi brand wins

Cup per serving
Emmi- 170 grams
Nestle-135 grams

Verdict: Emmi yogurt wins

Score: Emmi 2- Nestle 1

Verdict: The Emmi Yogurt has a smooth runny texture and without the strong yogurt smell of Nestle. The Nestle yogurt has a stronger after taste than the Emmi brand. Eventhough, many would have love the Emmi yogurt but with a price tag of RM2.80, you can buy not one but two Nestle yogurt. I also love the more robust texture of the Nestle yogurt, hence Nestle wins this overall.

WINNER: NESTLE BRAND YOGURT

Mother's Day Cookout 13.5.2012

Had this awesome cook out session at a friend's place during Mother's day. Her mum is cooking a Thai noodle dish for me  and my friend
Prepping the cabbage

Prepping the long beans

The crème de la crème,  the awesome soup.

The end result:
A delightful marriage of fresh finely chopped vegetables with the soft delicate texture of Thai noodles with thick creamy broth extracted from the pork bones simmered in a pot and merged into a bowl that delighted my palate and left me with a nice warm feeling in the stomach. *truestorycookwithamumslove*

food review

I got to eat this after an  introduction from a friend, and didn't stop since. What I like about this is that is diverts from the normal soy sauce base noodle dishes. All you can taste is a clean flavorful gravy and very generous amount of char siew and green leafy vegetables.

food review: putu piring tengkera

Look at the brown area. That is what is inside the putu piring, gula Malacca!!

 the beautiful trio!!

Ohhh yeah!!

It's RM0.90 a piece. Overall, the sweetness was not too overwhelming and it is super fluffy.
It's is made by a Chinese Uncle.

P.S: For my Muslim friends, I am not to sure about it being halal though. I think if you are not sure, you better ask first or don't eat at all. Thank you

food review: curry wantan noodle

 Price: RM5.50 (Big portion)

The curry gravy is thick and creamy without the overwhelming oiliness in some other curry noodle dish. The portion of  noodle and the meat was quite good.

Side note: this is a non-halal dish.

food review: the big tree asam pedas

If you know Pak Putra in Malacca, than you will not have any trouble finding this shop. Just be hardworking to look around. My aunt and her daughter came down to Malacca to have a detour before heading down to KL.
 the big signage

the main stars of the night
this is how an asam pedas dish looks like. Claypot of tamarind juice, curry laden fishy goodness and a plate of white rice with side dishes of stir fried cabbage with carrots and sambal.
it was flavorful, with a good balance of sweet and salty, the only downside for me though is it's spiciness. I love dishes like this spicy, but for this it was mediocre in the level of spiciness.

the pacific, some papa john's and a gaga celebration

I was browsing through the channel Sunday night and I remembered there was this one Emmy nominated series called the Pacific. I was like, " I gotta see this then".
I was totally like blown away at the length the producer and the director of the miniseries goes into making it. It was equally if not better then my all time favorite war movie, Saving Private Ryan.

More on The Pacific, click : All about The Pacific

The trailer:

and about two weeks ago, I had this voucher from Papa Johns. Anyways its a new pizza restaurant located Jusco next to Tesco. It was actually  with a classmate of mine Here are some pictures.
the condiments
since the voucher is for the Super Papa, we order the chicken topping one

2 people + 4 pieces each = seriously happy people + bloated tummies

I give a lot of pluses for the thin crust as it was throughly cook, not like Pizza Hut's. Other than that it tasted like any pizza  out there. Not sure if I will dine there again.

RM 14.95( 50 PERCENT OFF) + RM6.00(two iced drinks) + RM3.10 (service tax+ tax)

for a grand total of:
RM 24.10

and lastly

A Gaga celebration....
